About The Position

To assist the Principal in developing, achieving, and maintaining a strong instructional program. This role serves as an Instructional Leader/Coach for Classroom Teachers, focusing on improving student performance through research-based strategies and data analysis. The District Lead Teacher will also be responsible for planning and implementing professional development, ensuring assessment integrity, and fostering open communication within the school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Instructional Leader/Coach of Classroom Teachers by team-teaching, modeling lessons, providing classroom support, and participating in grade-level lesson planning, assessments, and data disaggregation.
  • Research, share, and model effective teaching strategies through weekly professional learning communities (PLC’s).
  • Observe and critique teaching methods and assist teachers in implementing research-based strategies aligned with the Louisiana Student Standards.
  • Make recommendations to the principal regarding teacher performance and evaluation.
  • Provide job-embedded support and guidance to teachers.
  • Plan and implement professional development activities with principals and teachers.
  • Analyze student performance data and align curriculum to meet school improvement plan objectives.
  • Ensure the integrity and validity of all assessments, ensuring alignment with state assessments, Louisiana Student Standards, and Grade-Level Expectations.
  • Analyze results of summative assessments to determine student growth and identify strengths and weaknesses.
  • Report on curriculum and instruction to the principal.
  • Establish and execute a professional growth plan.
  • Work effectively and foster open communication with school personnel and staff.
  • Submit accurate records and report promptly.
  • Exhibit professional ethics and consistently demonstrate self-direction.
  • Foster open communication and positive relationships with school personnel and staff.
  • Accept and perform other duties assigned by the Principal related to curriculum and instruction.
  • Follow State, School Board, and School policies.
  • Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in the teaching profession, including lesson plans, instruction, collaboration, grading, attendance, and parent interaction.
  • Participate in school committees or task forces.
  • Supervise students when they are on or off campus at school-related events, prior to school, during the school day (classroom, recess, lunch, between classes), and after school.
  • Attend meetings associated with student instruction, faculty, staff, department, IEP, parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school events, open houses, graduation, PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, student discipline meetings/hearings, and school board/committee meetings.
  • Attend meetings and functions of any sponsored activities, clubs, or groups.
