About The Position

This position serves as the primary delivery resource for the Buildings and Grounds Operations Department while maintaining the ability to perform all grounds maintenance responsibilities as assigned. The main goal is to ensure the timely, safe, and accurate transportation of district supplies, equipment, materials, and warehouse inventory, while also supporting the Grounds Department with seasonal grounds maintenance, snow removal, and district operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver License (CDL), with airbrake endorsement, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire, including successful completion of required testing and licensing.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills.
  • Ability to safely load, unload, secure and transport materials and equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple delivery requests while maintaining established schedules.
  • Ability to operate delivery vehicles and trailers.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, safety instructions, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to complete basic mathematical calculations to measure materials, distances, and quantities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to complete assigned work safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to recognize and address potential safety or maintenance issues.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Maintain all licenses and certifications required for assigned duties.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in delivery, warehouse, logistics, grounds maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to safely operate, or learn to operate, grounds and snow-removal equipment, including trucks, tractors, mowers, skid-steers, and attachments.
  • Previous experience operating snow plows, skid-steers, tractors, or other light commercial construction or grounds equipment.
  • Basic preventive maintenance skills for vehicles, small engines, and power equipment.
  • Familiarity with chemical handling and application safety procedures.
  • Valid State of Iowa 3OT Ornamental and Turf Pest Control applicator license.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary district delivery driver for the Buildings and Grounds Operations Department.
  • Maintain an organized warehouse, conduct routine inventory counts and advise department leadership on inventory levels.
  • Pull required materials, supplies, equipment, furniture, appliances, and other district assets from the warehouse; safely load, transport, and deliver them accurately and efficiently to district facilities.
  • Complete scheduled Print Shop deliveries.
  • Pick up and deliver parts, materials, and supplies from local vendors.
  • Transfer food service deliveries.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal by operating plows, spreading salt or ice melt, and performing manual shoveling as needed.
  • Assist with districts grounds and maintenance operations as needed.
  • Participate in the district's on-call rotation for after-hours facility responses (typically up to two weeks per year), and respond promptly to emergency calls when assigned.
  • Follow district safety protocols, including use of personal protective equipment and safe chemical handling.
  • Attend required training and staff meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
