About The Position

In this position, you will operate the full range of heavy equipment involved in major construction, maintenance, and repair projects for the public right-of ways in the Public Works department. In addition you will provide training to equipment operators and supervise projects by communicating and coordinating projects with management, crew members, vendors, and the public. In this position, you will be required to respond to emergency after hours callouts. We're an accredited pay equity employer! Your starting pay will be within the posted hiring range based on your years of experience and education. As a District Crew Lead for Keep it Clean Operations, you will: Operate equipment such as a track excavator, motor grader, dozer, front end loader, backhoe, paving machine, milling machine, various types of compactors, semi-tractor trailer, and tanker. Operate a single or tandem axle dump truck with plow and sander. Construct and maintain unpaved/paved roadways, right-of-ways, and drainage structures using materials such as asphalt, concrete, rip rap, and/or geotextiles. Apply chemicals, abrasives, and other ice control products during snow removal operations. Perform manual labor such as cleaning culverts, mowing, pothole patching, and shoveling asphalt. Maintain log and record books. Provide lead supervision; schedule and coordinate the activities and services of assigned staff. Perform a variety of skilled construction and maintenance tasks. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years of full-time professional pavement, concrete, and drainage maintenance experience
  • One year of supervisory experience
  • Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver's license not subject to restrictions.
  • Possess upon start and maintain a valid, non-probationary Class A Colorado CDL (Commercial Driver's License), not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
  • Register CDL with the FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to input data into a tracking database
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
  • Ability to operate a transit; set and read grade stakes
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to safely and properly operate the full range of complex heavy power-driven equipment and various hand and power tools
  • Ability to apply and explain pertinent, laws, rules, regulations, and City policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in coordination of maintenance operations in compliance with MS4 (Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System) permit requirements
  • Understanding of stormwater regulations and compliance requirements related to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), CDPHE (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment)
  • Legal construction standards, and drainage criteria
  • Experience which demonstrates an understanding of the design methods, materials, and equipment used for infrastructure maintenance
  • Experience in chemical herbicide applications
  • Experience in trash removal to include homeless encampment
  • Possess a current Road Scholar 1 certification
