Under the supervision of Brown University Health Supply Chain Operations Leadership, Distribution Technicians provide high-level customer service and operational support to the caregivers and departments Supply Chain supports across all Brown University Health facilities. They maintain quality assurance and practice standards, recognize and refer problems, and ensure the uninterrupted supply of equipment and supplies. Duties include counting, organizing, ordering, delivery, picking, packaging, put away, inspection, and receiving of equipment and supplies. Technicians maintain stock in assigned areas, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and correct labeling. They order supplies according to established practices, implement inventory management processes like stock rotation (FIFO), and operationalize product recall and substitution processes. They also act on optimization reports, receive and put away materials, deliver orders within Brown University Health locations using a truck or van (no CDL required), and replenish patient supply carts. Interaction with suppliers for order confirmation or returns is also part of the role. Additional duties may include answering phones, conducting stock audits, cleaning, photocopying, and potentially providing functional guidance and training to new employees.
