This role operates under the general supervision of the Team Manager or Warehouse Supervisor. The Distribution Technician is responsible for picking, packing, and shipping all customer orders accurately and in a timely manner, as measured by the Labor Management System (LMS), while operating material handling equipment such as transporters and forklifts. Responsibilities also include general warehouse duties such as loading, inbound receiving, returns, organizing, put-aways, replenishment, wrapping, push-offs, and order selection. The position requires accurate data input and providing customers with specific documentation and special services as needed. Additional duties involve filling 'shorted' orders, co-label order selection, export order selection, and assisting with inventory. Participation in team meetings and completion of special projects are also expected. The incumbent may be subject to temperature extremes, and overtime on short notice may be required.

Requirements

  • GED
  • Basic math, reading, and speaking skills.
  • Forklift License

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using material handling equipment in a warehouse environment.
  • Basic MS Windows experience.
  • SAP Transactions/Process Training

Responsibilities

  • Performs assignments in one of the following seven activity groups: Order Selection, Replenishment, Inbound, Outbound, Returns, Organizer, Repack/Hazmat. May be required to perform other activities based on business needs. Career progression will require cross-training in multiple activity groups.
  • Operates transporter, stand-up, reach or sit-down fork truck.
  • Completes all paperwork & system transactions in accordance with standard departmental operating procedures. Paperwork can include pick lists, labels, tagging, and any customer-required placards.
  • Identifies and communicates issues to the shift crew leader, warehouse supervisor, or team manager.
  • Attends shift/team meetings and recommends general process improvements.
  • Performs general duties including sanitation and battery changing.
  • Promotion to the next level is dependent upon performing two years in an expanded role in either Safety management, Efficiency management, Training management, or Quality management OR performing one additional activity group for a total of four of seven activity groups.
