About The Position

The position is in a diverse work group operating 24-hours a day through rotating shifts. As a Distribution System Operator at Oncor, you’re responsible for the safe operation of the distribution system. This position identifies and initiates corrective action as needed in a timely manner to optimize operating conditions including service restoration procedures while working under minimal supervision. This position will be on-site 5 days per week based at the location listed- West Distribution Operations Center (DOC). We are considering applicants with multiple experience levels. Requirements

High school diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
4+ years of experience in a power distribution role or other related experience is required (for Distribution System Operator).
2+ years in a Distribution System Operator role and successful completion of applicable System Operator training requirements is required (for Senior Distribution System Operator).
Possess strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing in a clear, concise, and inclusive manner.
Must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Experience with the use of Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

Applicants with Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or greater in an electrically related field are encouraged to apply.
Applicants with Distribution Operations and/or Distribution field experience are encouraged to apply.
Applicants with Craft Advancement Progression Skills (CAPS) or Distribution Lineman Training (DLT) certification are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Ensures the distribution system is operated within established company loading and safety guidelines.
Assists in the direction of distribution service restoration procedures to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
Assists in monitoring load and initiates corrective action for load abnormalities on distribution facilities to ensure proper load flow and adequate voltage levels under direct supervision.
Maintains a daily log on all events occurring on the distribution system to assist in future operation of the system, developing a history to assist in planning and design of facilities, and complying with regulations.
Assists in the preparation of work clearances on distribution lines and substation equipment to assure safety to employees and ensure consumers are not interrupted while minimizing impact on system security.
This position requires being available 24/7 for shift coverage and emergency situations.
Participates and completes assigned training activities.
Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Directs distribution service restoration activities to restore service in a timely, efficient, and safe manner (Senior role).
Monitors load and initiates corrective actions for abnormalities on distribution facilities to ensure proper load flow and adequate voltage levels (Senior role).
