About The Position

Under indirect supervision, oversee work performed by contractors on AEP electrical facilities. This role involves assisting with job planning, safety, and crew critique. The inspector will inspect and accept or reject contractor work for compliance to safety, design, construction standards, and construction quality, ensuring contracted construction projects flow smoothly. Responsibilities also include resolving customer concerns related to contractor work, documenting construction events to protect AEP's interests, and ensuring contractor invoices are accurate, complete, and reasonable. Feedback on contractor performance will be provided to Contract Administration, and the acceptability of contractors' work will be certified for invoice approval and payment. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED.
Thorough knowledge of distribution work processes, procedures and safety standards.
Minimum two years’ experience as a Distribution System Inspector Assoc. or equivalent related experience.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving safety record.

Responsibilities

Resolve customers' concerns associated with work performed by contractors.
Document construction events to protect AEP's interest from future claims.
Assure contractor invoices are accurate, complete, and reasonable.
Provide feedback concerning contractor performance to Contract Administration for use in future contracting activities.
Certify acceptability of contractors' work for invoice approval and payment.
Assume other duties as required.
