The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading daily shipping operations, supervising union employees within the Cooler Department, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of finished products. This position provides direction to team members, coordinates cross-functional activities, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational goals.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or shipping environment preferred.
  • A high school diploma with two years of higher education. Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with inventory systems, scheduling, and timekeeping software.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and make sound operational decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of food manufacturing, GMPs, workplace safety requirements, and quality standards preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide leadership to union employees and Lead Specialists within the Shipping and Cooler Departments.
  • Coordinate and oversee daily shipping operations to ensure customer orders are shipped accurately and on schedule.
  • Verify product identity, quantities, and lot codes to ensure shipping accuracy and inventory integrity.
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly staffing schedules to meet operational demands across all shifts.
  • Review and approve employee timekeeping records, attendance, and payroll-related information utilizing Kronos.
  • Optimize the utilization of personnel, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, Warehousing, Production, Inventory Control, and other plant departments to support business objectives.
  • Assist with inventory management activities, including cycle counts, product verification, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Ensure shipping and receiving equipment is maintained in safe and efficient working condition; coordinate repair and maintenance activities as needed.
  • Initiate, monitor, and follow up on work orders to support equipment reliability and operational performance.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all food safety, GMP, quality, safety, environmental, and company policies.
  • Support employee development through coaching, training, performance management, and effective communication.
  • Maintain a positive work environment while administering policies and labor agreement provisions fairly and consistently.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and communicate recommendations to leadership to enhance safety, quality, service, and productivity.
  • Ensure all operations are conducted in a manner that supports workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
