About The Position

The Distribution Supervisor provides frontline leadership and is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of finished goods throughout the warehouse. This includes overseeing shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, and all aspects of finished goods inventory control. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, drives continuous improvement, maintains strong employee relations, and supports operational goals related to on‑time delivery, order accuracy, and inventory accuracy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience in distribution, supply chain, warehousing, or manufacturing.
  • Experience managing finished goods inventory , including cycle counting and root‑cause analysis.
  • Experience supervising forklift operators and warehouse staff in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coach, train, and lead hourly employees.
  • Working knowledge of WMS systems and inventory control principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, mentor, and develop employees.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent attendance and reliability.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in lean, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily distribution activities including shipping, receiving, loading, picking, staging, and finished goods storage.
  • Maintain responsibility for finished goods inventory accuracy, including cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, root‑cause analysis of discrepancies, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions are properly recorded in the warehouse management system (WMS) and reflect real‑time accuracy.
  • Oversee warehouse staff including forklift operators, material handlers, and shipping personnel; assign work, manage schedules, and direct daily workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards; identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions.
  • Collaborate with production teams to coordinate the movement of finished goods and ensure timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor and improve warehouse layout, storage utilization, and material flow to optimize efficiency and minimize damage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized warehouse following established 5S and lean principles.
  • Manage staffing levels to meet volume requirements while controlling overtime and labor costs.
  • Conduct regular training on equipment, safety procedures, inventory handling, and WMS usage.
  • Lead shift meetings focused on safety, quality, and daily operational goals.
  • Develop employees for increased skill, performance, and advancement through coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure shipping paperwork, bills of lading, load sheets, and inventory documents are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Partner with carriers, logistics teams, and internal departments to resolve issues related to shipments, inventory availability, or customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse productivity, material flow, damage reduction, and cost savings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
