This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems including long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, motor starting, power factor correction, Distributed Energy Resources (DER) impact, load impact and other related studies. This person must be able to self-manage, with a strong conceptualization ability and strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills – including the capability to explain complex technical issues to decision-makers and project teams. Daily/weekly responsibilities can include but are not limited to: Participate in both internal and external client meetings. System modeling, such as steady-state load flows (CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, SKM etc.) System reliability and resiliency planning studies Distribution system circuit analysis for loading, voltage, reactive power, contingency, coordination, and reliability New load and generation interconnection studies Recommends solutions and best practices for standard and non-standard situations Perform detailed engineering analyses following standard methodology, criteria, and principles Actively seek out and encourage identification of new technologies and work practices to reduce operational costs and/or assist in the reduction of potential safety hazards
