Cordia Harrisburg has served downtown Harrisburg as the city’s provider of choice for reliable and efficient district energy services for decades. The system’s facilities, owned and operated by Cordia, provide district heating and cooling to more than 112 customers in downtown Harrisburg including the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Capitol Complex and Harrisburg municipal government facilities. Through an affiliate, Energy Center Paxton LLC, the system also provides 12 MW of electricity to the local power grid. Customers use the steam generated by Cordia Harrisburg for space heating, domestic hot water heating, humidification, industrial processes, and the chilled water for cooling. Cordia Harrisburg’s power generation component is interconnected with the PJM grid. In addition, the system’s staff repairs and maintains customer steam equipment. Reporting to the Lead Distribution Mechanic, the Distribution Mechanic II, is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the Steam and Chilled Water distribution systems to ensure the uninterrupted flow of Steam and Chilled Water from the plants to the associated distribution systems and customers.
