About The Position

MANNA is a nonprofit organization in Philadelphia that provides nutrition services to improve the health of people with serious illnesses who need nourishment to heal. Through medically tailored meals and nutrition education, we empower people to improve their health and quality of life. SUMMARY: The Distribution Manager oversees the efficient and effective delivery of MANNA’s medically tailored meals to clients locally, utilizing MANNA vehicles, and statewide through the organization’s shipping program. This role is responsible for managing a team of Drivers, Packers, Distribution Associates, and volunteers involved in packing and fulfillment, ensuring all protocols and operational procedures are consistently followed. The Distribution Manager also manages MANNA’s vehicle fleet, including scheduling and monitoring inspections, maintenance, and repairs. This position is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and clear communication with both clients and internal teams, while ensuring all distribution and logistics functions meet the organization’s high standards.

  • Minimum two years of experience in volunteer coordination, logistics, or customer service.
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and ability to learn volunteer and delivery software.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and move carts loaded with meals.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening.

  • Experience in logistics, distribution, food production, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily distribution operations, including local delivery routes and statewide meal shipping.
  • Manage routing to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Supervise fleet operations, including vehicle safety, inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Develop and enforce safe driving and delivery protocols.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate Distribution staff, including Drivers, Packers, and Associates.
  • Oversee volunteer participation in packing operations, ensuring adherence to protocols.
  • Maintain ongoing training programs to support operational changes and performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and HIPAA confidentiality requirements.
  • Coordinate packing, delivery, and logistics activities to meet organizational standards.
  • Serve as point of contact for distribution-related client communication, ensuring timely, professional responses to phone calls, emails, and other inquiries.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service, ensuring clients and staff feel supported, valued, and informed.
  • Communicate schedules, updates, and operational changes clearly to staff and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of logistics activities, including delivery schedules, fleet operations, and staff performance.
  • Track and analyze key performance metrics, including delivery timeliness and packing efficiency.
  • Proactively identify operational challenges and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Prepare regular reports on KPIs and operational performance for senior leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture.
  • Address operational issues proactively, including delays, vehicle issues, and staffing gaps.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to team members.
