About The Position

LaGrange County REMC is seeking a full-time Distribution Engineer who is passionate about electric power systems, data analysis, and problem-solving. This role involves working with a team and members to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the electric distribution system. The Distribution Engineer will perform engineering analysis, design system improvements, resolve technical questions, and investigate new technologies to enhance system reliability and economics. They will also manage the Advanced Metering Information (AMI) platform, monitor and dispatch outages using Outage Management System (OMS) tools, and develop standards for construction, materials, and engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, technology, or a related field.
• Valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 2 – 5 years of experience in operations.
• Familiarity with electric distribution line equipment and materials.
• Familiarity with the electric utility industry-related NEC, NESC, IEEE and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Performing engineering analysis for optimal performance and system planning.
• Ensuring the reliability and overall economics of the system.
• Resolving technical questions and communicating the line extension policy and electrical service requirements to members.
• Designing line extensions and improvements and monitoring and coordinating their construction.
• Managing and monitoring the Advanced Metering Information (AMI) platform.
• Monitoring and dispatching outages using Outage Management System (OMS) tools.
• Investigating new technologies that will impact and improve the distribution system.
• Conducting routine and special studies of system performance and power quality.
• Developing standards, including practices regarding construction, materials, and engineering.
