About The Position

Contribute your expertise, skills, and experience as an Distribution Engineer II – Electric Utilities by joining the KDM Engineering team. KDM is a growing, award-winning, minority- and woman-owned professional engineering firm specializing in electric, substation, gas, site civil, and telecommunications engineering design and support services. As part of our continued growth, we're expanding our presence in Philadelphia with a new office and an exciting utility project. We're looking for an Distribution Engineer II – Electric Utilities to help support this expansion and contribute to impactful infrastructure projects. The Electrical Engineer II is responsible for design development, equipment layouts, construction drawings, and bills of materials for utility distribution projects involving new and existing infrastructure. This role works closely with construction crews, clients, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.

Requirements

  • BS Electrical Engineering degree.
  • 4+ years of prior industry experience.
  • Proficient in the use of all software needed to produce quality electrical design drawings such as AutoCAD, TED, Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Must be able to interpret and analyze customer's electrical, architectural, and structural drawings, one-line diagram and load letters.
  • Must be willing to comply with all pre-employment screening, including but not limited to, drug testing, reference verification, education and employment verification, and background screening
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of PPL Electric Utilities standards and distribution design practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design development, equipment layouts, construction drawings and bill of materials
  • Proficiency of power engineering theories and principles.
  • Proficiency of practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing recommendations.
  • Understanding of power distribution systems.
  • Ability to understand complex initiatives across multiple teams/platforms.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Quantitative and analytical skill set.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing demands.
  • Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Engineering field.
