About The Position

The Distribution Dispatcher plays a critical role in monitoring and supporting Trico’s electrical system operations. Using tools such as the Outage Management System (OMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and Customer Information System (CIS), this position ensures real-time system awareness, coordinates outage response, and facilitates system switching. The Dispatcher provides essential support to the System Control team, contributing to operational reliability, member communication, and data reporting. This is a 12-hour shift position, with rotations occurring every 5 weeks. Overnight and weekend shifts are required, ensuring 24/7 coverage of Trico’s distribution system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency or high‑pressure situations
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn multiple operational systems
  • Willingness to work shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotations as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in electric utility operations, dispatch, system control, or related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates directly with field personnel through phone or two-way radio to issue Clearances, Hot Line Orders (HLO), and Special Conditions (SPC); and assists with activities associated with other service order work as needed.
  • Monitors and tracks current system loads and under the supervision of ADSO or DSO implements load control and/or load management programs.
  • Tracks and analyzes system events utilizing Trico’s AMI network and Milsoft fault detection model to isolate fault locations and dispatch crews to patrol areas as needed.
  • Assists with power flow and other analysis using Operation Analytics, Milsoft and/or other similar software to support outage restoration and for development of switching procedures.
  • Tracks and monitors outages by logging outage information into OMS and noting member information into CIS; assists in emergency procedures to restore electrical services and contacts crews to communicate relevant outage information.
  • Assist in the creation and coordination of system switching programs for both emergency outage restoration and general maintenance.
  • Coordinates with Operations and assists in planned outages for maintenance and repairs; notifies members utilizing the automation phone system.
  • Answers incoming phone calls, transfers members to the correct department and assists members during an outage or power quality issue.
  • Assists with generating system reports to create electrical data for analysis and performs general administrative tasks for management.
  • Monitors and maintains building and facilities security; monitors cameras, contacts authorities and management; controls access to the headquarters yard via the gate control and phone.
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
