About The Position

Perfetti Van Melle, a global leader in confectionery and chewing gum manufacturing, is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Distribution Center Shipping Lead for their 3rd shift operations. This role focuses on overseeing the picking operations within the distribution center, while also providing support to shipping and receiving functions as needed. The position involves monitoring operational flow, identifying potential issues, and ensuring smooth daily operations with minimal supervisor intervention. The Shipping Lead will also be responsible for generating reports to maintain inventory accuracy, answering questions from floor personnel, and ensuring the safety of warehouse staff by monitoring forklift operators and equipment.

Requirements

  • Forklift experience REQUIRED
  • 1+ years supply chain experience (scheduling, transportation distribution, supervision)
  • Knowledge of Warehouse operations best practices
  • Good work history and a willing to be a team player
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Warehouse Practices
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds routinely
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize daily activities and on-going projects.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors flow and communicates with floor personnel to identify possible problems or changes.
  • Focuses primarily on picking operations, but supports shipping and receiving operations as needed.
  • Provides coverage for vacations on other shifts, as well as for office personnel and supervisors.
  • Responsible for various reports to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • Answers questions for floor personnel.
  • Monitors forklift operators and equipment to ensure the safety of warehouse personnel and those working around them.
  • Keeps the daily flow of work moving with minimal support from the supervisor.
  • May be asked to cover other areas, including off-shifts.
  • Assist Supervisor in managing between 14-25 employees.
