The Distribution Center Manager is responsible for overseeing all facility operations, including the scheduling and management of drivers, supervisors, leads, and distribution center associates. This role manages the day-to-day operations, ensuring the accurate and timely unloading and loading of all shipments and associated paperwork. The manager aligns workload, people management, and process objectives, while enforcing all safety, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. They must comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, fleet, material handling, and shipping requirements, and safeguard operations through security protocols. A key aspect of this role is maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly operating environment, ensuring the accuracy of shipments and the good condition of the facility. The manager is also responsible for staff development through recruitment, selection, and training, identifying coaching opportunities, and verifying inventory accuracy via cycle counts. Efficient and courteous handling of will-call orders and ensuring fleet compliance with DOT regulations are critical. This role involves implementing and managing monthly/yearly budgets with a focus on cost control, utilizing a "Creativity before Capital" approach. Developing strategies to reduce costs and lead times, increase inventory turns, and improve order turnaround time are essential.
