About The Position

The Distribution Center Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the distribution center, ensuring efficient processing of inbound and outbound shipments. This role requires a proactive approach to safety, a focus on maintaining inventory accuracy, and the ability to manage and motivate a team. The manager will be responsible for the overall accuracy of shipments, safeguarding assets, and maintaining the facility. A key aspect of this role is fostering a culture of ownership, responsibility, and accountability, while also mentoring staff and maximizing storage efficiency. Collaboration with other departments is essential for coordinating logistics, warehousing, and customer service activities. The position also requires maintaining a union-free environment.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent combination of experience/education.
  • Multiple years of experience in high volume, fast turn-around distribution operations.
  • Strong experience in implementing & refining process flows.
  • Must have a “Hands On” management style.
  • Experience managing the movement of goods from multiple import/domestic supply bases.
  • Experience in a Lean & Six Sigma environment.
  • Excellent decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage/lead in a high-paced environment.
  • Experienced with using ERP and WMS systems.
  • Must possess analytic skills and intermediate level Excel skills.

  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day distribution center operations, including processing inbound containers and outbound FCL, LTL, and express delivery shipments.
  • Maintain a safe operating environment and proactively implement safety practices.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings in conjunction with the Facilities/Safety Manager.
  • Use established KPIs to monitor productivity and develop strategies to increase employee performance.
  • Perform workforce planning, time management, workflow planning, and administer constructive discipline.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy is maintained at 99% or greater.
  • Oversee the accuracy of all inbound and outbound shipments, safeguard assets, and maintain the facility.
  • Establish a culture based on Ownership, Responsibility, and Accountability.
  • Mentor and train support staff by providing operational advice and industry knowledge.
  • Maximize the storage of goods while minimizing costs.
  • Maintain a union-free environment.
  • Work cross-functionally with all areas of the company to ensure effective coordination of logistics, warehousing, and customer service activities.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned based on specific business conditions.
