About The Position

INSPYR Solutions, LLC in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a Distributed Systems Engineer to design, develop, and operate scalable web applications and the distributed backend services that support them. The engineer will build user-facing functionality, service APIs, and asynchronous processing systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and secure integration across application components. This position has no direct reports and does not supervise the work of any other employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field and five (5) years of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in any related position(s) in which the required experience was gained.
• Advanced Java concurrency (threading models, executors, locks, synchronization, and memory visibility/JMM)
• Spring WebFlux
• Designing and operating distributed microservices architectures
• Apache Kafka internals (consumer groups, partitioning strategy, offset management, delivery guarantees, and exactly-once or at-least-once semantics)
• Implementing event-driven systems and asynchronous workflows
• Caching strategies (distributed caching, cache invalidation, eviction policies, and consistency tradeoffs)

Responsibilities

• Design and implement web application features and backend services supporting user workflows, onboarding, configuration, and transactional processing.
• Develop RESTful and event-driven APIs consumed by browser-based clients and internal services.
• Build and maintain microservices that support high-traffic user-facing applications.
• Integrate front-end application requests with backend processing pipelines and messaging systems.
• Implement server-side business logic, data validation, and persistence.
• Design asynchronous processing using messaging and streaming platforms for background jobs and long-running workflows.
• Ensure application resiliency through retry logic, timeouts, caching, and graceful failure handling.
• Optimize performance across the full request lifecycle, including browser request handling, API latency, and database access.
• Implement authentication, authorization, and session management for web applications and service-to-service communication.
• Troubleshoot production issues involving API failures, data inconsistencies, and performance bottlenecks.
• Instrument applications using logging, metrics, and monitoring tools to improve observability.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable and scalable functionality.
• Support deployments and participate in operational support and incident resolution.
