About The Position

9fin is seeking a Distressed Reporter to cover daily news on distressed debt, from company earnings deterioration through to restructuring situations. This role involves working from leads and angles agreed with an editor and senior reporters, developing deep industry knowledge and relationships within the distressed debt and restructuring space, and building a network of sources. The reporter will collaborate with analysts and lawyers, bringing ideas to the team and taking direction on their pursuit. Additionally, the role involves leveraging 9fin's AI technology to track covered situations and flag developments.

Requirements

• Exposure to and interest in the world of finance and debt markets.
• Understanding of why distressed situations matter.
• Excellent writing skills, able to convey information concisely and effectively.
• Experience in student journalism, internships, freelance, or a related field.
• Enjoy meeting people and be comfortable initiating conversations with unfamiliar individuals.
• Organized, reliable on deadlines, accurate with details, and able to manage tasks.
• Coachable, actively seeking and applying feedback and direction.
• Self-motivated and passionate about doing a good job.
