About The Position

As a Distinguished Technical Program Manager, you'll define and lead the operational strategy for Marketplace Engineering. You'll partner with engineering executives to improve reliability, operational excellence, developer productivity, and engineering maturity across thousands of engineers. This role combines strategic leadership, technical depth, and organizational influence to deliver large-scale engineering initiatives that improve how Marketplace builds, deploys, and operates software. The Marketplace Platform Reliability team develops and maintains engineering systems that support thousands of engineers in delivering reliable, scalable, and high-performing software. The team manages platforms, operational intelligence, AI capabilities, and engineering standards to enhance productivity and system reliability. Focused on innovation and continuous improvement, members design robust, scalable solutions that support business growth while optimizing operational efficiency. Collaboration, strategic alignment, and effective program management drive technical excellence across the Marketplace organization, ensuring high-quality standards and sustained platform performance.

Requirements

  • Experience leading large-scale technical programs across multiple engineering organizations.
  • Strong technical understanding of distributed systems, cloud platforms, software delivery, reliability engineering, and operational excellence.
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and align engineering organizations around common technical objectives.
  • Experience driving organizational transformation through engineering standards, operational metrics, and cross-functional leadership.
  • Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and executive presence with the ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
  • Demonstrated success delivering measurable engineering and business outcomes in large, complex technology organizations.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related area and 7 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.
  • Option 2: 9 years’ experience in engineering, engineering program management, technical program management, product management, or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Project Management.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, with specialization in strategy, supply chain, finance, information systems, or related area and 5 years’ experience in product design.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

  • Establish engineering standards, operating mechanisms, and organizational metrics that improve consistency across Marketplace.
  • Drive execution of complex, multi-organization programs while influencing technical direction and engineering strategy.
  • Measure outcomes through operational intelligence and continuously improve engineering performance at organizational scale.
