About The Position

As a Distinguished Engineer at Capital One, you will be a part of a community of technical experts working to define the future of banking in the cloud. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization. Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree
At least 7 years of experience in Software engineering and solution architecture.
At least 7 years of experience in Enterprise architecture and design patterns.
At least 7 years of experience in designing and building distributed systems.
At least 7 years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
10+ years of experience in Software engineering, Enterprise architecture, Cloud computing, and ML systems.
10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, etc.
8+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
4+ years of experience in Data architecture.
3+ years of experience with public or private cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for your domain
Provide technical leadership and architecture guidance for within the organization.
Decompose complex problems into practical solutions by designing hybrid architectures that integrate vendor software, open-source tools, and cloud-native services.
Lead technical rollout, adoption, and experimentation of generative AI coding tools and services (e.g. agentic tools, MCP solutions, etc.)
Navigate complex compliance, security, and network constraints through strong collaboration with various internal departments and third-party vendors.
Establish foundational SRE capabilities to guarantee resiliency, optimize system latency, and maintain uncompromising quality across all services and systems.
Serve as a role model by mentoring engineering talent, conducting hiring interviews, and participating in external technical conferences to elevate the organization's external brand.
