About The Position

The Dispensing Pharmacist is a registered Pharmacist who is responsible for the accurate and timely dispensing of prescribed medication to patients. The Dispensing Pharmacist work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action. The Dispensing Pharmacist ensures adherence to quality assurance standards, accurate tracking techniques and a review process prior to shipping medications to patients. Understands department, segment, and organizational strategy and operating objectives, including their linkages to related areas. Makes decisions regarding own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and requires minimal direction and receives guidance where needed. Follows established guidelines/procedures. This is an ON-SITE role. Non-patient facing role.

Requirements

  • Bachelors of Pharmacy or PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • Licensed as a PHARMACIST in state(s) of practice
  • Ability to participate in Federal prescription programs
  • Self-directed, but also able to work well in a group
  • Ability to solve problems and encourage others in collaborative problem solving
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • A positive, proactive attitude with a high level of energy
  • Work ethic that is focused, accurate, and highly productive
  • Proficient with computers
  • Ability to stand during entire work shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs when needed.
  • Pharmacists possess hand strength to grasp and twist item continuously.
  • Ability to work around pharmaceutical products.
  • Ability to reach above waist and shoulders frequently.
  • Ability to bend below waist and twist frequently.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years' experience in a high-volume community or mail order pharmacy practice environment

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the preparation of prescriptions via a highly automated system
  • Check for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders.
  • Check for content and accuracy of all drug packaging and labeling
  • Interact with fellow health care team members
  • Assure compliance with legal requirements within the pharmacy
  • Process and check for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill Braille and Talking Vial orders.
  • Pharmacist must be able to perform the duties required in the 3-core areas (i.e.: Puck verification, TOTE verification, and Bulk Up)
  • Researching medication issues
  • Other duties as assigned by management
