About The Position

As a Dispensary Technician, you’ll play an important role in helping our patients access the medications they need while providing a welcoming, respectful, and positive experience. From processing prior authorizations and supporting medication adherence to dispensing prescriptions and assisting patients with insurance and payment questions, you’ll help make healthcare more accessible for the communities we serve. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous pharmacy experience required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is required
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and listening skills
  • Ability to interpret and apply guidelines and procedures
  • Good reasoning and judgment skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and colleagues at all levels
  • Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to travel between health centers as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Pharmacy Technician certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support medication access by processing prior authorization requests, reviewing formulary alternatives, and obtaining required information from providers and insurance companies
  • Connect with patients through medication adherence outreach, refill reminders, and assistance with medication-related questions
  • Dispense medications accurately while verifying prescriptions, insurance information, sliding fee information, and patient profiles
  • Provide excellent patient service by greeting patients, answering questions, collecting co-pays, and helping patients access pharmacists and medication education when needed
  • Work with insurance providers and healthcare teams to troubleshoot coverage issues and facilitate access to medications
  • Support medication assistance programs by identifying and referring eligible patients
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the patient health record, including prior authorizations, approvals, denials, and other relevant information
  • Manage inventory and help ensure medications are properly stocked, organized, labeled, and secured
  • Reconcile daily receipts and co-pay reports and maintain accurate payment records
  • Collaborate across health centers and provide coverage for medication clerks as needed
  • Participate in department meetings, audits, process improvement activities, and other pharmacy-related initiatives.
