About The Position

Coral Springs Animal Hospital is seeking a qualified Part-Time Dispensary Technician to join their team. This role is crucial in providing accurate and efficient medication dispensing and assisting veterinarians in delivering exceptional medical care to animal patients. The ideal candidate will be adaptable to a dynamic workload and possess a positive attitude. Responsibilities include processing, packaging, and labeling prescriptions, handling refill requests, preparing controlled substances, maintaining logs, and training junior staff. A strong understanding of veterinary medications and basic medical math is essential. The hospital is a state-of-the-art, AAHA-certified facility offering primary care, specialty services, and 24/7 emergency care, with a collaborative team focused on advanced diagnostics and treatments.

Requirements

  • Previous veterinary experience, preferably in an emergency or specialty hospital setting.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Able to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours).
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary pharmaceuticals and pharmacy regulations.
  • Basic medical math skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of veterinary EMS and inventory software (Cornerstone, Instinct, Omnicell) preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and efficient medication dispensing.
  • Assist veterinarians in the delivery of exceptional medical care to patients.
  • Support veterinarians in the safe and accurate processing, packaging, and labeling of prescriptions.
  • Handle refill requests received via voicemail or email.
  • Prepare controlled substances and other medications for in-hospital use.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reporting.
  • Train and mentor assistants and junior technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Provide compassionate and professional client care.
  • Actively engage in continuing education to expand skills.
  • Bring forward solutions to challenges within the department.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
