About The Position

This position is responsible for the overseeing of medical services to include supervising and evaluating dispensing nurses. Responsible for the safe and efficient dispensing of methadone medication to patients in compliance with WAC, FDA, DEA, regulations and clinic policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Washington.
  • A degree or studies in social science or medical field plus three years’ experience.
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and pre-employment UA.
  • WA state Driver’s license and ability to be approved by Tribal insurance to drive Tribal vehicles.

  • Ability to operate computer, computer programs, copier, email, instant messenger, fax and phone.
  • Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community partners and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises dispensing team to include: dispensing medication to patients for accuracy, patient treatment and care, inventory audits, patient intakes and all documentation and reporting.
  • Directly supervises Certified Medical Assistants.
  • Develop and implement best practices for dosing department.
  • Assists in the development and management of program policies and procedures.
  • Assisting with collecting, compiling and dispersal of program reports as required.
  • Ensures compliance with established policy and procedures and service delivery objectives.
  • Develop audit tools to ensure compliance with Federal, state and local laws.
  • Chart reviews to ensure proper paperwork and scope of care are completed for methadone patients
  • Ensures compliance with established policy and procedures and service delivery objectives
  • Serves as a resource to assigned staff in identifying and resolving complex case problems.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships between all dispensing employees
  • Prioritize and ensure that work load is completed
  • Ensure that ICCS Director in informed on a timely manner of any information affecting the clinics ability to perform stated purpose.
  • Ensure the safety of patients being dispensed correct dose.
  • Educate nurses on new policies and procedures to inform patients of accuracy in questions of clinic
  • Manage schedules of dispensing team.
  • Monitors supplies and inventory of methadone.
  • Enters SAMSHA requests.
  • Liaison to counselor and outside agencies/medical facilities.
  • Delegate shift task to all of the nurses and coordinate with physicians/providers who may need assistance.
  • Assess changes in patients and respond accordingly.
  • Detect any issues that result in injuries or other difficulties for or patients.
  • Inform providers of any changes in patients’ condition.
  • Review patient PMP.
  • Prepare with accuracy DEA and Pharmacy Board inspections.
  • Accurately and efficiently dispenses daily doses of methadone medication.
  • Maintains current inventory of medication and medical supplies in secure environment.
  • Assessment of patients’ physical condition; reporting observations to supervisor either verbally or in writing.
  • Alerts treatment staff of any observed changes in patients’ status.
  • Maintains accurate dispensing records.
  • Daily review of medical order book and recording of changes. Maintains current statistical records.
  • Accounts for all medication dispensed. Ensures accuracy of records to avoid medication discrepancies and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Explains the proper use of dispensed medication and its effects to clients.
  • Performs TB tests on staff and clients.
  • Inventories and orders supplies as needed.
  • Provides supervision and oversight of dosing nurses and medical assistants.
  • Coaches, and supports development of staff based on needs of positions.
  • Ensures licensed nurses complete the ongoing education requirements required to maintain their LPN and RN license.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the preservation of a workplace that embraces diversity and inclusivity.
  • Responsible for performance and management and hiring of employees within that department.
