About The Position

The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and scheduling drivers, vehicles, and shipments to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods. This role serves as a key point of communication between drivers, customers, and internal teams while maintaining compliance with transportation regulations and company policies.

Requirements

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Proficiency in dispatch software, GPS systems, and transportation management systems (TMS)
• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS)
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping

• Previous experience in transportation or logistics
• Experience with route optimization software

Responsibilities

• Schedule and dispatch drivers, vehicles, and loads based on customer needs and delivery timelines
• Monitor routes and track shipments to ensure on-time pickups and deliveries
• Communicate with drivers regarding routes, delays, weather conditions, and customer instructions
• Ensure compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS)
• Use dispatch software, GPS systems, and transportation management systems (TMS) to manage operations
• Handle unexpected issues such as delays, breakdowns, or route changes and provide quick solutions
• Maintain accurate records of dispatch activity, driver logs, and delivery confirmations
• Coordinate with warehouse, operations, and customer service teams
• Provide excellent customer service by updating clients on shipment status
• Review and optimize routes for efficiency and cost savings
