The Dispatcher is responsible for adhering to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment. This includes utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building. The role requires following hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and staying informed about any changes. The Dispatcher will document service requests and events in the Security Communications database, confirm response to scenes, and document that information was received. They will receive calls via radio or phone, follow associated protocols and checklists for emergency response, and transmit accurate information to personnel. Prioritizing emergency calls, documenting emergencies, and monitoring equipment panel abnormalities are key functions. The Dispatcher ensures prompt response to incidents, understands the purpose and functions of monitor panels, and ensures systems are returned to normal working order. They will monitor multiple alarm systems and dispatch Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Department, or other appropriate agencies as needed.
