About The Position

The Dispatcher I is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and courteous telephone and radio communications for First Electric employees and membership. This role involves receiving and transmitting radio communications in accordance with FCC Regulations and Cooperative policies, and effectively communicating with the Consumer Services group regarding daily field operations. The position requires maintaining communications between field personnel and internal operations, responding to emergency calls, monitoring field personnel locations, and staying informed about Cooperative services, rates, policies, and procedures. The Dispatcher also monitors and maintains various systems including the Milsoft outage system, IVR, substation communications, cameras & gates, alarm monitoring, AVL, and telephone directory. They initiate operation service orders, assign outages, and provide assistance to any department to promote teamwork. Additionally, they use TWACS OC when necessary, monitor SCADA alarms, and ensure safe work procedures are followed.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Must be capable of understanding the Cooperative's services and be able to acquire the knowledge of the Cooperative's rules and regulations as well as basic understanding of electrical flow.
  • Must be capable of operating an FM radio system and communicate with a variety of people over the telephone under varying circumstances.
  • Must have the ability to transmit information to mobile units efficiently and coherently.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with computers, telephone and radio equipment, and outage information systems.
  • Must be able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to field requests for account information, service requests, complaints, and outage restoration.
  • Maintains radio communications between field personnel and internal operations.
  • Responds to emergency calls requiring assistance from external services.
  • Monitors the location of all field personnel.
  • Keeps informed of Cooperative services, rates, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitors CRC message tickets.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of work performed.
  • Monitors and maintains the Milsoft outage system, IVR, substation communications, cameras & gates, alarm monitoring, AVL, telephone directory and various daily logs.
  • Initiates operation service orders.
  • Assigns outages to the field.
  • Provides assistance to any department within the Cooperative.
  • Uses TWACS OC when necessary to connect service for members.
  • Monitors, acknowledges & notifies appropriate group for SCADA alarms.
  • Ensures safe work procedures are used at all times.
  • Records and enters member telephone changes on member accounts.
  • Participates in departmental and Cooperative employee meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
