About The Position

This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, District 3-Eastern Nevada Agency in Owyhee, Nevada. This is an open continuous announcement. Applications will be accepted and reviewed every two weeks until the posted closing date. As a Dispatcher (Public Safety), GS-2151, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Incumbent will perform as a radio net controller and transmit and receive law enforcement communications traffic. Operate a multi-frequency and multi-agency radio console with several paging systems, cross-frequency patching, and phone patching. Coordinate, monitor, and assist with operations via telephone and radio between a variety of agencies and personnel. Record and maintain all radio transmissions and significant telephone situations. Determine priority of response and initiate appropriate response of law enforcement. Responsible for operating within a number of public safety computer networks. Gather all pertinent information for the call to determine whether it requires dispatching a vehicle, vessel or aircraft. Perform general clerical duties such as filing, typing, copying, etc.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Must serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • A background security investigation will be required.
  • Must be registered under the Military Selective Service Act if a male applicant born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a safe driving record within the 4 year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607.
  • Subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Minimum Qualification for GS-4 Dispatcher: One year of general work experience that is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that demonstrates or reflects the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position.
  • OR, 2 full academic years (60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours) of education beyond the high school level at an accredited college or university.
  • OR, A combination of experience and education that totals 100% of the requirement.
  • All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
