About The Position

The Dispatcher II role involves monitoring various critical systems, dispatching resources, and communicating effectively to ensure the safety and operational efficiency of the organization. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related work experience. The Dispatcher II will be responsible for monitoring weather alerts, managing a mass notification system, handling information calls, and overseeing systems such as fire alarms, medical gases, access control, and maintenance requests. Additionally, the role includes providing support for maintenance dispatch, key control, and badge management, as well as covering garage intercom calls and dispatching escorts. A key aspect of the role is process improvement, where the dispatcher will identify areas for enhancement, implement new procedures, and contribute to data collection and divisional discussions. Maintaining organized and safe work areas is also a responsibility. The position requires maintaining the Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) system to track officer locations, document calls, and ensure radio communication with officers for various situations including distress calls, security escorts, and motorist assists.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Monitor NOAA weather radio and weather radar for inclement weather information/alerts and communicate as necessary.
  • Utilize Mass Notification system when receiving a request to send out a mass notification regarding security and other situations.
  • Handle information calls from employees, visitors, and the general public who need general or security information.
  • Appropriately direct callers as needed.
  • Monitor, dispatch resources and communicate as required for a variety of systems.
  • Monitor troubles in fire system ensuring proper documentation that is in compliance with Joint Commission standards and notification of maintenance.
  • Monitor medical gases evaluating if switching to reserve or repair is needed.
  • Receive Code Blues and based upon evaluation route to the appropriate response team.
  • Evaluate alarms from the access control system and triage door problems to determine appropriate response i.e., security officer, maintenance, security systems team, or with authorization the security integrator.
  • Provide maintenance dispatch coverage.
  • Control, and sign out master keys, maintenance vehicle keys, maintenance radio and other keys to authorized personnel as needed.
  • Control and issue shredder bin keys to employees approved by their supervisor to retrieve documents mistakenly placed in bin.
  • Utilize SAFE program to assign physical access and activate/deactivate badges based on established criteria, troubleshoot non-working badges.
  • Cover garage intercom calls for parking and transportation, during breaks, absences, non-operational hours and 24-hour coverage on weekend and holidays.
  • Dispatch escorts to the morgue.
  • Improve organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to the division for discussions.
  • Ensure that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective and efficient environment for employees.
  • Maintain the Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) to monitor location of officers at all CCHMC locations to determine availability for activities and for officer safety.
  • Document calls/activity.
  • Maintain radio communication with all officers.
  • Dispatch officers for, but not limited to, distress calls, panic alarms, emergency calls due to disorderly, disruptive, combative or potentially violent individuals, security escorts, motorist assists, auto accidents, etc.
