Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; related college coursework preferred
Valid state driver's license required
TWIC card required
5+ years in the transportation industry with intermodal experience required
Familiarity with DOT safety compliance
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate), Word, and Outlook
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with minimal supervision
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, except as prohibited by law.

Nice To Haves

Class A CDL strongly preferred
union environment experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Lead daily shift operations, ensuring timely startup and smooth execution of dispatch activities
Supervise work at multiple yard locations, providing on-site oversight and guidance
Manage labor, fuel, and fleet maintenance costs, minimizing route miles and improving efficiency
Track KPIs to support performance management and operational decisions
Prioritize loads, define routes, and set schedules that meet customer expectations and regulatory standards
Resolve issues with drivers, carriers, and port operators to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
Monitor container activity to reduce demurrage and storage fees
Maintain technical knowledge of contracts, safety requirements, and operational schedules
Partner with labor unions to address issues proactively and support positive relationships
Supervise union employees with coaching, performance management, and documented disciplinary actions as needed
Ensure accurate reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance documentation
Meet or exceed KPIs including labor hours, transportation costs, and safety compliance
Minimize workplace injuries and accidents through effective safety management
Optimize resources while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
Build a strong, high-performing team culture in a union environment
Inspire employees to perform at their best with coaching and direction
Resolve operational challenges with sound, timely decisions
Collaborate across departments to support customer and company goals
