About The Position

Responsible for providing Customers with perfect service through effective planning and communication with drivers. Supervises all CDL Drivers in assigned territory.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or related work experience to demonstrate the ability to learn transportation and dispatching skills, including analytical / problem solving, multi-tasking under pressure and professional communication and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making, and skill development.
  • Ability to interpret a road map legend and content.
  • Must be able to provide driving directions to others.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends, as demand requires.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GFS policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to use Office, Excel, Word and Outlook proficiently.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Planning and dispatching drivers to support sales and service in a profitable manner.
  • Communicating any and all service issues to our customers timely.
  • Monitoring and documenting drivers’ hours of service to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Efficiently analyzing all possible drivers routes, prices and freight combinations for maximum cost savings.
  • Maximizing the number of loads sourced from non-predetermined terminals to optimize savings.
  • Monitoring product prices, costs and availability; identifies orders affected, re-prices and re-sources them to reduce the overall cost.
  • Maintaining a positive environment with customers and all employees.
  • Soliciting orders from customers to maximize equipment and driver utilization.
  • Analyzing methods to increase utilization to improve service and automate various dispatch functions.
  • Maintaining daily reports and distributing to appropriate parties.
  • Scheduling major maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment as requested.
  • Maintaining service records of each piece of equipment and vehicle to document for quality maintenance programs and to maintain DOT compliance.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of assigned equipment and compliance with safety and environmental practices at the facility.
  • Coordinating and conducting safety training for all employees.
  • Assisting with regulatory compliance related to DOT and DEP.
  • Advising Location Manager of actions taken effecting routing or daily activities.
  • Communicating daily load information to appropriate groups.
  • Assisting other departments with inquiries and requests.
  • Following GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.
