About The Position

BURNCO is a leading supplier of construction materials, proudly serving communities across North America. This role oversees the scheduling and coordination of approximately 150 mixer trucks, 30 haul trucks, and 9 ready mix plants, while providing day-to-day leadership to the dispatch team. As a key connection point between dispatchers, drivers, plant operations, sales, customers, and management, you will ensure accurate scheduling, efficient resource utilization, and reliable, timely service for customers.

Requirements

  • 5 years of dispatch, logistics, transportation, or operations experience; ready mix concrete or construction materials experience would be considered an asset
  • 2 years’ experience leading, supervising, or acting as a lead dispatcher in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of dispatching systems; experience with Command Alkon, Digital Fleet, or similar systems is preferred
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make timely decisions under pressure while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance customer needs, operational constraints, and fleet availability
  • Familiarity with DOT / FMCSA regulations and driver hours-of-service requirements
  • Ability to coach team members, support accountability, and foster collaboration across dispatch, drivers, plants, sales, and operations
  • Demonstrated experience using data, reporting, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for improvement

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, direction, and support to the dispatch team
  • Oversee order entry, truck assignments, scheduling, and dispatch coverage across operating hours
  • Monitor live truck status, cycle times, delivery progress, plant capacity, and driver availability
  • Proactively adjust schedules to respond to traffic delays, plant issues, customer changes, or urgent service needs
  • Balance mixer truck, haul truck, driver, and plant resources to improve utilization and reduce downtime or delays
  • Serve as an escalation point for dispatchers and customers on scheduling, delivery timing, and service concerns
  • Partner with plant operations, sales, fleet, safety, and driver supervisors to ensure alignment between customer commitments and operational capacity
  • Train dispatchers on systems, processes, policies, and customer service expectations
  • Ensure accurate use of dispatch systems such as Command Alkon, Digital Fleet, or similar platforms
  • Track and report key dispatch metrics, including on-time performance, truck utilization, cycle times, and service issues
  • Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency, communication, and service reliability
  • Support compliance with DOT / FMCSA requirements, company policies, safety standards, driver hours, and safe operating practices
