About The Position

The Dispatch Level 2 role is directly accountable for the effective management of drivers, fleet performance, and supporting Level 1 Dispatchers. The position focuses on operational excellence, superior customer service, and ensuring fleets operate efficiently for driver success and customer service performance. This role oversees day-to-day operations, coordinates team activities, and assists the Dispatch Manager with operational reports and key projects. As a leader within TransX, you will also be expected to align with the TransX Core Values for Teamwork, Safety, Innovation, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect.

Requirements

  • Two (2) – three (3) years of previous Dispatch experience is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under minimal to no supervision and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Analytical thinking with a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Capable of multi-tasking with a proven ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid knowledge of the trucking industry and associated rules and regulations (e.g., Hours of Service, DOT).
  • Computer literate and proficient with industry-related systems and TMS applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education is preferred, ideally in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Human Resources.
  • Logistics or Supply Chain experience is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and update the "Late to Start and Late to Complete" report (Health Check) to track driver departures and completions.
  • Maintain live system updates for driver PTAs, order ETAs, starts, completes, and service alerts.
  • Dispatch and confirm all load assignments to drivers.
  • Process cross-border shipments for customs clearance.
  • Manage tractor and driver utilization.
  • Manage driver time-off requests, driver discipline, and proper documentation.
  • Emphasize customer requirements and needs to drivers to enable operational success.
  • Drive continuous improvement and regulatory compliance (safety courses, random testing, etc.).
  • Handle operational emergencies with urgency, including equipment breakdowns, accidents, or weather-related delays.
  • Exercise quick decision-making and critical thinking to resolve delays with cost-effective solutions.
  • Prioritize time-sensitive issues with critical thinking skills.
  • Maintain and generate key fleet reports, including the Vacation Matrix, Morning Fleet Message, Loyalty Calculator, Team Bonus, Add Pays, and Driver Birthdays.
  • Oversee PM due/overdue follow-ups, winter weather updates, Friday orientation summaries, Fleet KPI reports, and TLW Weekly mileage.
