About The Position

Green Top Farms was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher who was troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. For the last ten years we have built a high volume food service, catering and delivery business. Throughout that time we have remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. We spent the majority of our energies during the COVID Pandemic serving NYC City Agencies in the provision of food for the underserved, as well as non-profit agencies throughout NYC. Our mission is to build a more sustainable and equitable food system, starting by reconnecting consumers and local farmers. We believe the results of strengthening that connection are better nutrition, more tasty food, greater social justice, and reduced environmental impacts. Our menus reflect this attention to bringing nutritious, delicious food to those who need it most.

Requirements

  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID with proof of vaccination (Required)
  • Experience in commercial kitchens (Required)
  • Ability to work the overnight shift (Required)
  • Ability to carry over 50 pounds and remain standing for long periods of time

Nice To Haves

  • NYC food handler’s license or knowledge of Servsafe or interest in learning (Preferred)
  • Bilingual Strongly Preferred (Spanish)

Responsibilities

  • Working with janitorial functions, dishwashing, office cleaning, bathroom cleaning, and being able to perform deep cleaning and any facilities-related functions
  • Familiar with commercial kitchen cleaning, cleaning chemicals, and working on slippery floors
  • Ability to perform tasks related to plastic cutting boards, sanding and restoring plastic cutting boards
  • Cleaning and sanitizing processing equipment, utensils; following the Master Sanitation Program of the company
  • Assisting whole culinary team with maintaining organization of smallwares and other equipment; dish washing responsibilities
  • Comply with all company policies, rules & regulations regarding safety, personal hygiene (GMP’s), operational methods and food safety guidelines
  • Must follow proper time and attendance, uniform procedures and adheres to kitchen schedule
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this position
