About The Position

This position is responsible for dishwashing and other general housekeeping tasks within the Culinary Department. The role ensures the department is maintained in a sanitary, safe, and clean condition, meeting hospital, Health Department, and Joint Commission standards. It is a part-time position, 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with no weekend work. The position is located in Culinary Services at Primary Children's Taylorsville and involves working around water and standard dishwashing chemicals.

Requirements

  • Food Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required only in the states of Utah and Idaho)
  • Demonstrates ability to read color coded labels and chemicals as well as following written and verbal directions
  • Ability to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs
  • Ability to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately during occasional interaction with customers
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use
  • Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment
  • Ability to work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time to perform work
  • Ability to tolerate extremes in temperature such as performing work around dish machines and tolerate exposure to cleaning chemicals

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and sanitizes dishes
  • Collects carts with patient trays from hospital floors
  • Cleans and disinfects assigned areas including dining areas using department cleaning procedures
  • Uses cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards
  • Understands procedures and properly disposes of infectious waste and trash
  • Operates and maintains assigned equipment (e.g., commercial dishwasher) according to established procedures
