About The Position

Chicken Soup Brigade (CSB) is Lifelong’s food and nutrition program, providing medically tailored meals, culturally relevant groceries, and nutritional counseling & education to community members facing illness and injustice. The Dishwasher plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, organized kitchen while assisting with basic food preparation tasks. This position ensures the flow of clean dishes, utensils, and equipment and helps the team by preparing ingredients according to established recipes and food safety standards. This regular, full-time, non-exempt, union role is based in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, with onsite presence required 08:30AM - 5PM Monday – Friday.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and protocols.
  • Current King County Food Worker’s Card, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License and a good driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, cookware, trays, and food service equipment using commercial dishwashing machine or manual washing methods.
  • Properly sort, load, and unload dishware to ensure effective cleaning and prevent damage.
  • Inspect all items for cleanliness and rewash as necessary to meet sanitation standards.
  • Store clean dishes and equipment in designated, organized locations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, sinks, floors, drains, and surrounding workspaces.
  • Dispose of trash, recycling, and compost according to facility procedures.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with training and labeling requirements.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety policies.
  • Assist with general kitchen cleaning tasks assigned, including sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, and kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Perform food prep tasks including washing, chopping, slicing, measuring, and marinating ingredients.
  • Label, date, rotate, and properly store food and ingredients.
  • Follow food safety standards, including proper handling, storage, temperature control, and sanitation.
  • Follow all food workplace safety, health, and organizational policies.
  • Portion and package meals ensuring portion control is followed according to meal specifications.
  • Communicate equipment issues, safety concerns, or supply needs to supervisors promptly.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings, all-staff meetings, trainings, and other events.
  • Work with volunteers in food prep and packaging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
