About The Position

The Dishwasher is responsible for the proper cleaning, sanitizing, and storage of all dishes, equipment, and kitchen tools. All tasks must be performed in accordance with safe food handling practices and Wright’s Dairy Farm & Bakery’s standard operating procedures. The Dishwasher is expected to foster a positive work environment and uphold the company’s core values.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend chemical labels and use color-coded test strips.
  • Must be available to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Availability for early mornings and occasional evening shifts.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time, up to the full length of a scheduled shift (typically 8–10 hours).
  • Use hands and arms to handle, grasp, scrub, wash, and manipulate dishes, tools, hoses, racks, and equipment.
  • Frequently bend, reach, twist, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb short ladders or steps to access shelves, sinks, drains, and dish racks.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, or move items such as dish racks, floor mats, trash barrels, and cookware weighing up to 40 pounds independently, and up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical aids (e.g., carts or dollies).
  • Push or pull rolling carts, racks, or barrels weighing up to 150 pounds using proper body mechanics and equipment.
  • See and read labels, test strips, and control panels.
  • Distinguish colors (for chemical and sanitizer testing).
  • Use depth perception and peripheral vision to move safely in a busy kitchen environment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a commercial kitchen environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, bowls, food storage barrels, and equipment using hot soapy water, the 3-bay sink, and the dishwasher. Ensure all items are properly rinsed, sanitized, and dried before storage.
  • Maintain the dishwashing station by regularly scrubbing and sanitizing sinks, work tables, and surrounding areas.
  • Pre-rinse items with chocolate, frosting, batter, or other debris before washing to ensure thorough cleaning.
  • Scrape food debris from sheet pans before placing them in the dish machine; hand wash items that cannot be cleaned in the dishwasher.
  • Test and record sanitizing solution levels using test strips to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Empty trash throughout the shift and at the end of the day, replacing liners as needed.
  • Perform end-of-shift duties, including cleaning and breaking down the dishwasher, washing and sanitizing all dishwashing equipment, and running floor mats and trash barrels through the dishwasher.
  • Clean and sanitize stainless steel work tables, hand sinks, and 3-bay sinks, including faucets and spray nozzles.
  • Spray, scrub, and rinse walls in the dish area to maintain cleanliness throughout the shift.
  • Thoroughly clean floors by pre-soaking, scrubbing, and rinsing, including under tables and sinks. Maintain floor drains by removing debris and washing drain components.
  • Complete additional duties based on shift needs: wash floor mats, test dishwasher rinse cycle with thermal-label strips, document results, and clean oven racks and trash barrels on PM shifts.
