About The Position
Kiawah River is a fairly new waterfront community, located on Johns Island, that embraces the Lowcountry sea islands life and is centered on outdoor pursuits with 20 miles of shoreline and 2,000 acres of picturesque land, including multiple working farms, a goat dairy and a Community Support Agriculture (CSA) program. The community vision is to combine residential, retail and hospitality offerings with custom and semi-custom homes featuring high-quality coastal architecture. The Spring House is the first key amenity in the new Kiawah River community and features two pools, an outdoor spa, pool bar, dining room, event space, and a state-of-the-art fitness facility with locker rooms and saunas— all overlooking the scenic Kiawah River. We are looking for a hardworking and dependable Dishwasher to join our team! The Dishwasher will be responsible, along with all team members, to clean, organize and maintain kitchen equipment including sweeping, mopping and taking out the trash.
Requirements
- Positive and helpful attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Exercise appropriate cautions when working with sharp or hot materials
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance
- Familiarity with catering and event logistics
- Ability to listen and take direction and work as part of a team to assist in various tasks as needed
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Multi-tasking and prioritizing
- Food safety related decisions – proper chemical handling, rewashing if not clean
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a kitchen or dishwashing role preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Keep dish pit clean and organized
- Dry and put away clean dishes in designated storage areas
- Clean and maintain work areas, utensils, and equipment by means of dishwasher and by hand
- Set up and break down dish machine at start and end of shift
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of cleaning chemicals
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure a smooth and efficient flow of dishes and utensils for meal service
- Clean, sweep, mop, take out garbage
- Performs opening, closing and side work as directed
