About The Position

This role is responsible for washing all soiled dishes, trays, and utensils using the dish machine, and manually washing and sanitizing pots and pans. The position also involves delivering and picking up food carts, assisting on the tray line, bussing dirty dishes, and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Adherence to the St. John's Health Corporate Compliance Program and participation in performance improvement activities are required.

Must be on-site at the St. John's Health campus or other facilities to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.
95% of shift standing and walking.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling necessary 5% of shift.
Must be able to work ten hour shifts.

Responsibilities

Scrapes, sorts, loads all trays, dishes and silverware in dish machine and assures that dishes are clean.
Unloads dish machine, stacks clean dishes and puts away in the proper area, ensuring Living Center has glasses and silverware at all times.
Buses dirty cafeteria dishes and silverware and stocks clean dishes during service hours, ensuring clean coffee cups are available.
Manually washes all dirty pots and pans and sanitizes them through the dish machine.
Assures the sanitation level in the dish machine is correct, checks and records daily.
Follows and adheres to established Infection Control practices, including hand washing.
Maintains, develops and updates skills to implement ideal service, attends department meetings, and completes inservices.
Assists with meal service as indicated, such as taking food to the Living Center, preparing bacon and sausage, assisting with prep, and breaking down and disposing of boxes.
Transports food carts to and from patient care areas, ensuring dishes are collected in a timely manner.
Assists with room service as indicated, delivering meals to patients and demonstrating good customer service skills.
Assists with cleaning up after catering events.
Completes assigned daily cleaning tasks.
Cleans ovens, hoods, and equipment during the evening shift.
Breaks down and thoroughly cleans the dish machine nightly.
Sweeps and mops departmental floors nightly and removes all trash from the kitchen.
Performs other duties as assigned.
