About The Position

We are hiring immediately for part-time DISHWASHER positions at the University of Texas at Rio Grande Valley. This role is responsible for maintaining dishes, pots, pans, trays, kitchen, work areas, equipment, and utensils in an orderly and sanitary condition. The position involves scraping and rinsing food from dirty dishes, washing them by hand or machine, ensuring complete cleanliness and sanitation, and polishing silver. Additionally, the dishwasher will ensure compliance with safety procedures, maintain temperatures and chemical levels, keep the dish area orderly, sweep and mop floors, wash work surfaces, remove trash, steam clean garbage cans, and transfer supplies and equipment. The role may also involve helping to load and unload supplies and product, and performing other assigned duties. This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling, including morning and afternoon shifts, and the requirement to work weekends. The pay rate is fixed at $11.00 per hour. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

• Food handler's certification required.

Responsibilities

• Scrapes and rinses food from dirty dishes and washes them by hand or places them in racks or on conveyor to dishwashing machine.
• Ensures complete cleanliness and sanitation of dishes, pots, pans, and trays.
• Washes pots, pans and trays based on assigned procedures.
• Polishes silver using burnishing machine tumbler, chemical dip, buffing wheel and hand cloth.
• Ensures compliance with outlined safety procedures.
• Maintains temperatures and chemical levels as outlined by provided standards.
• Keeps dish area orderly and in compliance with safety standards.
• Sweeps and mops kitchen floors to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
• Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, meat blocks and other food prep surfaces.
• Removes trash and places it in designated containers.
• Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
• Transfers supplies and equipment between storage and work areas.
• Helps load and unload supplies and product.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
