Dishwasher / Prep Support

Cheeky NoodlesRidgefield, WA
Onsite

About The Position

Cheeky Noodles is a new restaurant opening in a brand new space, complete with a shiny new kitchen and a spotless and airy dining room. This is our first location, tucked in the middle of a rapidly growing city and we are STOKED to be hiring our inaugural team who will help us define our culture and who will ultimately be delivering on our community-driven mission. The dish pit is a critical part of what keeps the restaurant running. We’re looking for someone who can stay energized when it gets busy and it’s time to rock, and who takes pride in helping the kitchen stay in shape like its day 1, despite the daily demands. During service, you’ll keep cookware and tools flowing reliably to the line, support the team if something is getting in the way of the safe and steady flow of food to customers, and communicate any issues proactively to help the team stay on the same page. Outside of core service times, you’ll help set up and break down the kitchen, support with receiving and storage, carry out light food prep tasks as requested by the Kitchen Captain, and help maintain the kitchen like the beautiful machine it is. The dish pit is tough work, but there’s a satisfaction that comes from being the literal lynchpin that keeps the kitchen moving. Without a solid team player at the back of the kitchen, nothing works. For someone who can get in the zone and find their flow, this can be a really rewarding position. The company views this role with respect and importance.

Requirements

  • Some restaurant kitchen experience is preferred, but we’ll work with and train the right people who are interested in getting their feet wet in the restaurant world
  • Strong ability to multitask and able to stay organized and in communication when things get hectic
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs; repeatedly lift dish racks, pots, and bus tubs throughout shift
  • Ability to stand for the full duration of your shift (outside of breaks)
  • Valid Washington state food handlers card (at start time)
  • 16 years or older
  • Evening and weekend availability

Nice To Haves

  • A Cheeky attitude; you’re energized by service to others, you default to a positive attitude, you’re always looking for ways to have fun, and you know that you can still be serious about your performance while being a little bit foolish
  • You can easily stay calm under pressure and know how to get yourself back on track when things get wobbly
  • You thrive in a team-oriented environment, with strong communication skills and an innate desire to help your teammates succeed – and you ask for help when YOU need it
  • A growth mindset mindset, with an eagerness to learn
  • Punctual and professional; you know what behavior is appropriate when and with whom
  • You act with integrity, and you do the right thing even when no one is watching
  • Gets an oddly satisfying feeling from the result of a deep clean

Responsibilities

  • Operate according to the highest standards of food safety and kitchen hygiene, with an understanding that much of the kitchen’s ability to operate cleanly and safely relies on you
  • Run a reliable continuous dish cycle during service, ensuring the line is always well stocked and that no inadequately cleaned items make it to the line
  • Keep the dish pit organized and hazard free throughout your shift
  • Empty kitchen waste bins as necessary to ensure the line is never backed up due to waste
  • Operate the high-temp warewasher safely and appropriately, ensuring temperatures and chemicals are within range at all times
  • Ensure cleaning solutions are in effective ranges (ie solution strength and temperature) before and during use
  • Watch for equipment issues, such as insufficient temperature in the warewasher, and report to the Kitchen Captain immediately
  • Complete opening, closing, and in-shift task lists as assigned
  • Leave the dish area clean, dry, and ready for the next shift, whether that’s in ten minutes or 10 hours
  • Support with receiving and storage
  • Carry out light food prep tasks as requested by the Kitchen Captain
  • Help set up and break down the kitchen

Benefits
