About The Position

Arlo Hotels, an independent lifestyle hotel, is actively seeking a dynamic Dishwasher-Porter. This role is directly responsible for the cleanliness of the restaurant, which is the first thing a diner sees, and ensuring that all items used within the kitchen are cleaned to standards. Arlo Hotels strives to create a sense of awe that leaves those they touch wanting more. Located in Miami's vibrant Wynwood district, the Arlo Wynwood is a 217-room property featuring a rooftop pool, multiple dining and entertainment areas, and unique art installations.

Requirements

  • Must have 2+ years of experience as a dishwasher/porter at a comparable restaurant or hotel.
  • Must have a basic understanding of the English language.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and push/pull loaded carts or hand trucks up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to stay on your feet for 8 hours plus.
  • Must be able to work in cold environments (walk-in coolers/freezers) for short periods.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have basic knowledge of sanitation procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Food handler certification preferred or required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand.
  • Ensure all dishes, glassware, plastic containers, pots and pans are put away clean, dry and grease-free in a neat and organized manner.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas, by hand or using hand trucks.
  • Clean garbage cans with water and proper SDS (Safety Data Sheet) cleaning supplies.
  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly conditions.
  • Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas.
  • Sort and remove trash, place it in designated pickup areas.
  • Sweep, scrub, and mop floors, ensuring no standing water on the floor anywhere in the kitchen, as per the health code violation.
  • Ensure all paper towels and soap are refilled at every handwashing sink throughout the kitchen.
  • Perform weekly deep cleaning of both ice machines, plus daily spot cleaning.
  • Assist chefs by preparing ingredients, which may include chopping, slicing, washing, and peeling vegetables and meats.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries: verify items against invoices and purchase orders, check product quality and temperatures upon arrival, and report discrepancies or damaged goods to the Chef on duty.
  • Store and rotate product according to FIFO standards, ensuring proper labeling, dating, and storage temperatures in walk-ins, freezers, and dry storage.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly inventory counts as directed by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all storage areas, including walk-in coolers, freezers, and dry storage shelving.
  • Follow all HACCP and food safety protocols, including temperature logging during receiving.
  • Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations.
  • Deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences.
  • Coordinate and multi-task job duties in an active environment.
