About The Position

Motor City Seafood Company is seeking a reliable and motivated Dishwasher/Janitor to join our dynamic team in Highland Park. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in our seafood processing facility, including dishwashing, cleaning restrooms, breakrooms, and offices. This role is essential for ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for all employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior experience working as a dishwasher in a fast-paced environment, preferably in a food processing facility or commercial kitchen.
  • Knowledge of proper dishwashing techniques, including operating dishwashing machines and hand washing delicate items.
  • Familiarity with safety and sanitation regulations in a food processing environment.
  • Ability to work in a team and communicate with fellow staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing area.
  • Ability to properly operate, breakdown, and clean dishwashing equipment.
  • Ability to work in a face-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the employee policy manual and any applicable signed agreements and work rules.
  • Cooperates with all management and staff at MCSC.
  • Follows all OSHA rules and regulations, as they apply to the position.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Use cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions.
  • Report and potential hazards or maintenance issues to the Facility Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize all containers, utensils, and equipment used in the seafood processing facility.
  • Ensure proper storage of cleaned items.
  • Load and unload dishwashing machines and operate them efficiently.
  • Hand wash items that cannot be placed in the dishwasher.
  • Sweep and mop dishwashing area regularly.
  • Remove trash and maintain cleanliness of the facility as needed.
  • Follow all safety and guidelines to ensure a healthy work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Processing staff to ensure smooth workflow and assist when required.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors.
  • Maintain cleanliness of breakrooms, including wiping down surfaces, cleaning appliances, and removing trash.
  • Clean office spaces, including sweeping, mopping, and emptying trash bins.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies are adequately stocked and report any supply shortages to the Facility Manager.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance tasks as required.
  • Assist with waste management, including proper disposal of seafood waste.
  • Respond promptly to any cleaning emergencies.
