About The Position

The Dishroom Clerk works in the Market Grille kitchen to help maintain a clean, safe, and well-run work area. The role involves cleaning equipment, dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; handling food safely; removing trash; and supporting coworkers so they can provide food and service to customers. The clerk also provides friendly customer service, answers telephone calls, follows hygiene and dress standards, and assists in other store areas or special projects as assigned. The position requires staying active throughout the shift and reporting to work as scheduled and on time.

Requirements

Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and perform tasks involving a few concrete variables.
Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience is preferred; no education requirement.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers positively.
Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans thoroughly and consistently.
Handle food safely and keep the work area clean and neat.
Remove trash promptly and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area.
Answer telephone calls promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
Work with coworkers to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas as needed and complete special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
