About The Position

Under the supervision of the Civil Rights Officer, this position is responsible for investigating protected-class discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions and may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.

Requirements

• Educational equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field, OR the educational equivalent to a diploma from an accredited high school plus four years’ experience in the civil rights, human resources, or related field.
• Knowledge of EEO issues, specifically Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
• Above average oral and written communications skills.
• Demonstrated ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in writing.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Advise and assist in resolving complaints and grievances which allege discrimination.
• Interview complainants and witnesses and analyze supporting documentation and evidence.
• Research laws, rules, and regulations that may govern allegations.
• Prepare written report of investigation with findings.
• Protect the independence, neutrality, integrity and privacy of the investigation.
• Provide advisory and consultative assistance to Department personnel in the interpretation and implementation of all policies and procedures pertaining to the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO).
• Prepare a variety of statistical and narrative reports.
