About The Position

North Ridge Discovery Kids Director at Scottsdale Bible Church (SBC) is a full-time position responsible for carrying on the Vision, Mission and Values of SBC. This role reports to the Central Discovery Kids Minister and is responsible for providing supervision and leadership to Discovery Kids North Ridge. The goal is to help kids discover who God is and His plan for their lives. The position requires a passion for ministry and children, strong project management skills, and the ability to develop and execute mission strategy. Team members are expected to be committed followers of Christ, live according to SBC's Statement of Faith, engage in ministry prayer, serve as 'One Team', and attend SBC training and team-building events.

  • Master of Arts or Master of Divinity or equivalent.
  • More than 5 years of demonstrated ministry leadership experience.
  • 3 years of experience in ministry, children’s programming, childcare industry, or relevant role.
  • 3 years of experience in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understanding and complying with mandatory reporting laws for the safety and protection of minors and vulnerable adults, and training volunteers on these requirements.
  • Casting vision, building a team, and executing ministry in Discovery Kids, overseeing programming for kids aged 0-5th grade.
  • Communicating and representing the vision of Discovery Kids and SBC to parents and volunteers.
  • Working collaboratively with the Discovery Kids and Next Gen Ministry Teams.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, training, development, and care of volunteers and Jr. volunteers for weekend services and special events.
  • Overseeing Discovery North Ridge staff and volunteer teams.
  • Developing and providing leadership to ministry teams including Greeter, Kids Check, Set up/Clean up, Worship, and AVL.
  • Ensuring ongoing recruitment, training, and appreciation of volunteers.
  • Developing volunteers through the PEO process (Participation, Engagement, Ownership).
  • Raising up volunteers and building community within the Discovery Kids volunteer team.
  • Maintaining updated serving teams of all volunteers in ROCK.
  • Creating a safe, fun environment that represents Jesus for all kids.
  • Ensuring all aspects of Kids Check are ready.
  • Welcoming and connecting with all new families.
  • Ensuring all classrooms are fully staffed for weekend services.
  • Overseeing the cleanliness, stocking, and organization of the Discovery Kids North Ridge building and included areas.
  • Developing, memorizing, and recording weekly video teaching for Discovery Kids.
  • Editing weekly small group curriculum and distributing it to volunteer leads.
  • Planning fun and engaging large group experiences for weekend services, involving volunteers in implementation.
  • Supervising the North Ridge Discovery Kids team and providing ongoing team building and development.
  • Developing and monitoring annual goals, objectives, and budgets.
  • Working on Sundays and childcare events as needed.
  • Ensuring childcare programming events are prepped and appropriately staffed.
  • Supervising Discovery Kids Team Member(s) and providing ongoing team building and development.
  • Acting as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing Team Member(s).
  • Fostering a spirit of trust and innovation on the team.
  • Meeting personally with each Team Member at least once a month in a pre-scheduled one-on-one meeting.
  • Meeting with the Discovery Kids North Ridge team once a week.
  • Approving PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports.
  • Assisting in the development of and managing the annual budget for Discovery Kids.
  • Completing related duties or special projects as assigned.
