About The Position

Grow your career as a Disability Support Worker in Community and Recreation. This rewarding role supports adults with disability to get out and about in the community. You may support people one-on-one or in groups, mostly in the community, and occasionally in their homes. No one work day will be the same! You might support clients with working towards their goals, support multiple clients simultaneously within a group setting, both in the community and onsite at a Community Hub, a wide range of recreation and social activities, shopping, appointments and events, engaging in meaningful opportunities and relationships, and daily living and personal care needs, including assistance with meal preparation, personal hygiene and mobility. At Yooralla, you’ll have the opportunity to make a positive difference, supporting people at Community Hubs, in the community, and occasionally at home, to achieve their goals.

Requirements

  • Availability to work Monday – Friday, 9am-3pm.
  • Experience within the Disability sector.
  • Experience working with people with complex supports.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good English literacy to communicate well with clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team.
  • Willingness to support clients with personal care activities.
  • Australian Driver Licence.
  • The right to work in Australia.
  • Ability to obtain a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation certificate if you don’t already have one.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Manual handling and Meal Assistance experience is desirable.
  • Experience supporting clients with epilepsy and/or asthma.
  • A positive approach, initiative and self-motivation.
  • Willingness to be committed to empowering clients to reach their goals, and to upholding quality and safeguards in everyday work.
  • A Certificate IV in Disability, relevant work experience or an interest in community services.
  • Transferable skills.
