PRIMARY PURPOSE: To supervise the operation of Disability Clinical Consultants for disability clients; to monitor colleagues’ workload, provide training and monitor individual claim activities; to provide clinical direction to Disability Clinical Consultants; and to review complex cases as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Current RN, LVN, CRC, COHN CVD, LPC and/or LCSW Licenses required.
  • Current license, registration and/or professional designations as required within the jurisdiction.
  • Clinical expertise must be kept current by acquisition of the necessary CEUs to maintain licenses and designations.
  • Six (6) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Knowledge of current medical practices in health care management in a variety of areas (including, but not limited to orthopedics, general medicine for acute and chronic conditions, general surgery, mental health, obstetrics, oncology, and physical and occupational rehabilitation)
  • Good oral and written communication, including presentation skills
  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as clinical liaison for the claims team to ensure understanding of the Nurse Consultant role.
  • Maintains accountability for overall unit outcomes; maintains successful unit audit scores.
  • Analyzes reports to effectively manage the unit; provides analysis of these reports to management and/or clients as appropriate.
  • Analyzes and maintains appropriate staffing levels; maintains case management load oversight including coverage for absences.
  • Assures achievement of unit customer service/satisfaction goals; drives the most effective claim resolution.
  • Reviews complex files as appropriate; addresses team work problems in a timely manner.
  • Develops and provides training base on Performance Development Plan for direct reports.
  • Maintains required CEUs for license(s) and certification(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
  • Travels as required.
  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.
